The Stag Do Mini Guide Part 1

by :

As Best Man, you have the honourable and slightly daunting task of organising the Stag Do. How do you go about arranging a Stag Do that will be talked of in years to come? Introducing the Stag Do Mini Guide Part 1.

If Stag Dos came with a how-to manual, we’d like to think the Stag Do Mini Guide Part 1 & 2 would be it. Here’s the first stage of arranging a legendary send-off.

1.       Who’s invited?

As Best Man, you’re in charge of the invites. Find out if the Stag wants a close-knit group of mates of a big brawling party, and go from there. Make sure you don’t miss anyone out, so check which cousins / uncles / colleagues should be invited, aside from the obvious group of lads.

2.       What’s the budget?

Before you do anything, you need to know what money you have to play with. It’s usually best to do this on a per person basis, so you can float some ideas of costs before you book up. The last thing you want it to plan and pay for an all-singing, all-dancing stag do, only to find nobody can afford it. Agree your budget, and then stick to it.

3.       What are your time restraints?

Is the stag prepared for a week of mayhem or is the preference for a one night send-off? Can everyone get the time off work, if needed? The date of the wedding should also be a consideration – plan the stag do too close to the big day and it could backfire, so make sure you allow for plenty of recovery time.

4.       What’s your destination?

Your destination largely depends on your budget, how many days you have to play with, and what the Stag would enjoy the most. From a week of sun, sea and debauchery in Magaluf to an action-packed weekend in  Brighton, the options for destinations in the UK and abroad are extensive.

  1. 5.       Activities – yes or no?

Whilst some Stags prefer an old fashioned boy’s night out, others may be looking for something a little more action-packed. Go-karting, white water rafting and golf are all possibilities – and whilst you can’t cater for everyone’s tastes, you can offer an opt-out.

Stay tuned for the next instalment of the Stag Do Mini Guide Part 1 & 2.
